1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Paddle mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Paddle is a mobile application that allows users to:

  • Track pickleball matches and scores
  • Calculate and maintain skill ratings using the Glicko-2 algorithm
  • Check in at courts and see who's playing
  • Connect with other players
  • View leaderboards and statistics

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the App, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Submit false match results or manipulate ratings
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
  • Create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or leaderboards
  • Impersonate another person or entity

5. Rating System

The App uses the Glicko-2 rating algorithm to calculate skill ratings. Ratings are based on match results submitted by users. We reserve the right to adjust ratings or remove matches if we detect fraudulent activity or rating manipulation.

6. Content and Intellectual Property

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Paddle and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

By submitting content (such as profile photos or match data), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content within the App.

7. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Ratings are calculated based on user-submitted data and may not reflect actual skill levels.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PADDLE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. You may also delete your account at any time through the App settings.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
