Cookie & Storage Policy
Last updated: January 27, 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains how the Paddle mobile application ("App") uses local storage and similar technologies to store information on your device. As a mobile application, we primarily use device storage rather than traditional browser cookies.
2. What We Store
Authentication Data
We store authentication tokens securely on your device to keep you logged in between sessions. This allows you to access the App without re-entering your credentials each time.
App Preferences
- Notification settings
- Display preferences
- Last viewed court
- Onboarding completion status
Cache Data
- Court player lists (for faster loading)
- Profile images (to reduce data usage)
- Recent match data (for offline viewing)
Diagnostic Data
- App crash reports
- Performance metrics
- Error logs (for debugging)
3. Technologies Used
MMKV Storage
We use MMKV, a high-performance key-value storage framework, to store app data locally on your device. This provides fast, secure, and efficient data storage.
Secure Storage
Sensitive data like authentication tokens are stored using the device's secure storage mechanisms (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android).
Image Cache
Profile photos and other images are cached locally to improve performance and reduce data usage.
4. Website Cookies
Our website (paddlerating.com) uses minimal cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for the website to function (e.g., session management)
- Analytics: We may use anonymous analytics to understand how visitors use our website
We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
The following third-party services may store data on your device:
- Supabase: Authentication and database service
- Expo: App update and push notification services
- Sentry: Crash reporting and error tracking
6. Managing Stored Data
You can manage locally stored data by:
- Logging out: Clears authentication tokens
- Clearing app data: In your device settings, you can clear all app data
- Uninstalling the App: Removes all locally stored data
- Deleting your account: Removes all data from our servers
7. Data Retention
Cached data is automatically cleared periodically to free up space. Authentication tokens remain until you log out or they expire. Diagnostic data is retained for up to 90 days.
